Sweetser House
The Sweetser House Through Time
1921
Construction of the Sweetser House
The Sweetser House was built for Chase and Lillian Sweetser in the Colonial Revival style by architect E.W. Stillwell. The home became one of Redondo Beach’s most distinctive residences.
1947–1981
Sweetser Family Legacy Continues
After Chase Sweetser Sr. died in 1947, the home remained in the family. His son, Chase Sweetser Jr., who later became president of the local Coca-Cola bottling company, continued living there.
1985
Historic Recognition
The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places because of its Colonial Revival architecture and its importance to Redondo Beach’s transition from a seasonal resort town to a residential community.

Navigoe Purchases the Home
The property was bought by Scott Leonard and his wife, Mandi Leonard, who restored the historic home and converted it into the firm’s offices.
Why We Bought It
Navigoe chose the historic Sweetser House as its home because the property reflects the same values the company brings to its clients: stability, legacy, stewardship, and long-term vision. Built in 1921 and recognized as one of Redondo Beach’s architectural landmarks, the Sweetser House represents thoughtful craftsmanship and enduring character.

So, Is It Haunted?
For a home that has stood overlooking the coast since 1921, the Sweetser House has collected a few stories over the years. Creaking staircases, flickering lights, unexplained footsteps, and the occasional late-night mystery have all become part of the building’s character.
Most days, the only spirits found inside are good conversation, strong coffee, and a deep appreciation for Redondo Beach history. But if you happen to hear footsteps in an empty hallway, we’ll let you decide for yourself.
